Hi, I’m Jerry Brito. I’m executive director of Coin Center, a DC-based think tank focused on the public policy issues facing cryptocurrency technologies such as Bitcoin. I also serve on the board of COPA.
When I’m not advocating for free speech and privacy, I tweet, write, and podcast about crypto, policy, and ideas. Now, this being an “about” page, this is the part where I must deploy the signaling and credentialism:
- I’ve testified several times before Congress about cryptocurrencies, and regularly hold briefings for policy makers. I’ve presented on cryptocurrencies at the White House, Treasury Department, State Department, SEC, and CFTC.
- My scholarly research has been published in the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy and the Stanford Technology Law Review among other journals, and my articles have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and elsewhere.
- I was named one of D.C.’s 100 top tech leaders by Washingtonian magazine and to the POLITICO 50 list of “D.C. influencers.”
- I’m a sometimes public speaker and my views have been featured by the media in print, radio/podcasts, and TV.
I live near Washington, DC, with my wife Kathleen and our daughter Penny Lane. You can reach me at jerry at brito dot com.
